We are experts in steel, with more than 50 years of experience building and maintaining steel structures for one of the world’s most demanding marine environments — the North Sea.
This provides assurance of a robust, well-engineered design that stands the test of time.
With the latest technology, lifespan has been further extended, thanks to advanced surface treatment products.
We offer our customers a 40-year warranty on surface treatment for our steel-based solutions.
Hexacage is engineered with the same principles as land-based aquaculture systems, with a focus on water quality and biology.
We aim to provide the same level of control and biological conditions as land-based facilities, ensuring homogeneous water quality throughout the tank. This guarantees optimal growing conditions for the fish, no matter where they are located within the water column.
Operators have full control over both exchange time and water flow velocity throughout the entire volume. As in land-based farming, hygiene and biosecurity are critical.
The Hexacage tank can be fully drained and washed after each production cycle — directly on site.
Hexacage is more than just a closed containment unit — it’s a robust and reliable marine structure. The design includes a durable steel float collar, providing a wide and secure working platform around the entire tank, with a minimum width of 5 meters. For added safety, railings can be installed around each module.
The 7-meter-high float collar houses four separate pump and machinery rooms, each spacious enough for the installation of equipment such as oxygenation systems and UV water treatment units.
In front of each machinery room, there are four separate filtration rooms (sea chests) containing large, newly developed self-cleaning drum filters. These filters are mounted for easy inspection during operation, and can be replaced without interrupting production, even when the tank is fully stocked.
Hexacage can be delivered with a crowding system mounted around the central column of the tank. With this system, it is possible to perform critical operations without the use of fish pumps, including:
